Lila Holler redefines her sound in a new pop rock ballad "Monster", available March 13th. The upcoming indie-pop artist inspired by her nomadic upbringing across the United States combines folk-pop with her own unique alternative edge. Fans of The Marias, Phoebe Bridgers and FKA Twigs will enjoy her introspective work rotted in landscapes of love and self discovery. Describing the process of creating her new song Lila shares, "This song came to me at a point in my life where I felt very shamefully reliant on male validation to dictate my self worth. I felt as though I was stuck using sexuality as a way to perform - to emulate something I am not in an attempt to feel desirable or sexy as a woman." These vulnerable emotions experienced universally by women in our society acted as inspiration for the record's powerfully emotional lyrics. Lines such as "trying on my mothers heels, I'm stuffing them with old socks" touch on the feeling of striving to fit a perfect mold of what makes a woman "sexy" even if it's not genuine to you. She considers this new sound to be her most authentic sound yet after making the exciting shift into pop-rock, from a more traditional indie-pop mold.
