Lily Forte's "Miles to Go"

By Bethany M
Los Angeles based singer songwriter, Lily Forte, recently released her newest single "Miles to Go" on October 17th. "Miles to Go" perfectly describes Forte's discography, combining classical and jazz elements into a modern Hollywood twist. Fans of Kali Uchis, Lana Del Rey, and Amy Winehouse should be on the lookout for the next star, Lily Forte.
"Miles to Go" is a soulful goodbye letter to toxic influences. Forte says that it was in regards to leaving a relationship with an alcoholic man, but can also describe the power in balance within the entertainment and music industry especially in Los Angeles, as the music industry is primarily white male dominated. Forte is working to actively break boundaries and roles with her music. The song is a powerful anthem of regaining control of your life and career, by mentally or physically taking the wheel, but saying that the fight will never be over, hence the name "Miles to Go." You can see this vengeful and powerful spirit when Forte says "You have the power to write your own story, Don't let someone else write it for you."
I really enjoyed the nostalgic Hollywood vibes of "Miles to Go." The track feels perfect for any 1960s or 1980s high school movie. Lily Forte should be on anyone's radar, as she plans to perform and release new music as soon as possible.
